Keith, Jr. was born with Sickle Cell Disease (a painful life-threatening blood disorder). At age 5-years old he underwent a bone marrow transplant which consisted of chemo, a year long recovery process and a daily regimen of 26 pills for breakfast while in the 1st grade. Keith, Jr. is now cured of the disease, thanks to life-saving bone marrow donated by his younger brother Karson (at age 3 y/o), who has an identical twin brother Kalen. Keith, Jr. transferred to Riley Hospital for Children in 2016 for ongoing care, when his dad returned to Ball State as an assistant defensive football coach. For the past 4-years Keith, Jr. has attended Camp Independence through Riley Hospital for Children for free thanks to donations from universities like Ball State, the community and local businesses.
