History

Ball State University Dance Marathon (BSUDM) was originally founded as a philanthropic event in support of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in 2003 by Phi Mu and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In 2008, both chapters decided that BSUDM would best thrive as a student organization.  Since becoming a student organization, BSUDM has seen unprecedented growth in both student participation and fundraising efforts.  In March 2013, BSUDM decided to increase support from the university by transitioning to fall under the guidance of the Office of Student Life.

BSUDM is a valued and significant donor to Riley Children’s Foundation (RCF). Since 2003, BSUDM has raised over $5.3 million for Riley Hospital for Children. The $1 million milestone was acknowledged by RCF in 2015 with a Room Naming Ceremony. The BSUDM Executive Board and BSUDM Alumni Association were invited to Riley Hospital for the unveiling of the BSUDM Therapy and Recreation Room on the Stem Cell Unit.
