Hannah was born with a rare and complex congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, where the left side of the heart does not fully develop. A series of three open-heart surgeries, the first of which was completed when she was only 12 days old, allowed her to live with half of a heart. In addition to her heart complications, over time Hannah also developed significant pulmonary issues, including the use of only one lung. At 3.5 years old, and after more than a dozen other surgeries and medical procedures, her heart began to fail. She was listed for a heart transplant, and on August 6, 2017, she received the gift of life: a new heart. Hannah enjoys play-doh, swinging, riding her bike, and watching YouTube videos with her sisters.
