Bryson was born with multiple congenital heart defects (interrupted aortic arch, aortic stenosis, a very large VSD, and an ASD) as well as severe bi-lateral hydronephrosis (aka swelling of the kidneys due to a blockage in the ureters.) Bryson was life-lined to Riley from Fort Wayne at just 12hrs old due to his heart defects which we were unaware of prior to birth. He’s had two open-heart surgeries (6 days old and 7 1/2mo,) 2 heart caths, 3 kidney procedures, 1 kidney surgery, and a g-tube placement surgery. He spent a good portion of his first year at Riley and continues to be followed by Riley Cardiology, Urology, and Nephrology. He’ll have to have heart surgeries throughout his life to replace his pulmonary valve but he’s doing absolutely amazing right now.
